This is kind of an odd question, but have any of you ever eaten something that you later found out had meat in it? Can you get really sick if you haven't eaten meat in a very long time?

This is my dilemma. I am leaving at the end of the summer to study in Ecuador for a semester. It's very possible to get by on veggies and rice, but Ecuadorians generally don't understand why a person would not want to eat meat. I've heard that even if you request a dish without meat, or tell them that you will get sick if you eat meat, that they may still 'flavor' your dishes with meat. Voluntarily choosing to not eat meat doesn't go over so well in a country where almost half the population lives below the poverty line.

I will be living with a host family, and while I am making my best attempts to communicate my diet restrictions, I can't help but think that at some point I will unknowingly eat something with meat in it.

I did a bit of traveling a couple months ago, and my flight home messed up and didn't have vegetarian meals for me. I ended up having to pick meat out of the other dishes...and a few hours later I had diarrhea and was vomiting (very ladylike, I know) in the bathroom for the rest of the flight. I keep trying to convince myself that it wasn't the meat...but it still freaks me out. I am so worried that I will get sick while I am in Ecuador.

Can eating a small amount of meat really make you sick? Sorry this is so long. Thanks for any info and advice :)

Best outdoorsy thing to do in the summer, that is dog friendly?

Obviously going to Deleware Park for a walk, but are there any events or other fun places to bring doggers in the warm weather?
Vendetta Thinks You're Stupid
The deli located in the Feel Rite Health Food Store located at 3912 Maple Road in Amherst by the Boulevard Mall needs cooks and counter staff ASAP!

Stop by to apply. This is preferred as the deli is busy.
If you have questions, call 716-834-3385 and ask for the deli manager Maria or asst store manager Erin.

dude, i hate that commercial from tim horton's. it's the one where this guy goes to pick up the paper or something and these roosters start chasing him. two very fit girls are jogging together and they can't cross a bridge because there are a ton of roosters there. in the end, everyone is chased by roosters to tim horton's, to have the new egg/sausage/cheese sandwich on an english muffin for $2 something. i hate this commercial and think it's stupid. I am lactose intolerant. Are there any soy cheeses without casein, a milk protein or lactose and are they good replacements for real cheese in recipes? Thanks.

Hi guys,
I'm visiting Buffalo, Lackawanna, and the falls next weekend, and was hoping to get some restaurant recommendations from locals. Any favorite vegan places downtown to suggest for a nice and worry-free dinner? Or anywhere in the greater area (we're driving in from the east)? Breakfast places? I saw references to Amy's Place and Taste Good Chinese when I googled, but figured there might be lesser-known great places. Thanks so much for your help!
17th-Jan-2006 04:57 pm - Multivitamins
Can anyone recommend a good multivitamin suitable for a vegetarian diet? One A Day, Centrum and the rest of the leading brands I've checked contain gelatin or specifically say that they contain ingredients of animal origin. I had been taking a dietary supplement from GNC with an "advanced vegetarian formula" but I gave up on trying to get into shape and probably don't need this much daily value of anything. Not to mention how out of place I feel when I walk into that store. So... does anybody here know of a good brand?
